First Critique

T-shirt: looks bit busy also the polo shirt looks too formal.

Business card: the size is different from real proportion.

the color doesn’t match with other applications.

The phrase, “EAT ORGANIC, LIVE ORGANIC” gives feeling that it’s for organic company than for healthy food center for youth.

Plate: the napkin with fork and spoon gives more official feeling. It’s suppose to be more casual and not too serious but more like snacky.

busi_3 plate_1 t-shirt-2 t-shirt-3

Second Critique

Business card: still need to fix to the right proportion.

Plate: the line looks unbalance, play with it more.

T-shirt: the second one (without the seed) looks better but for the background shape and color, it looks like a bit random. it’s not feature on anything else other than t-shirt so it’s a problem in sense of consistency.

so we narrow down the main color to be green and light blue in the t-shirt.

[project 3] group project – moodboard

The moodboard

moodboard

My moodboard

At first, It didn’t seems to work very well, because we just worked out as adding the element from each of our own mooboard to the group moodboard weather than really combining it. As the result, it became messy, so we tried to make it clean layout first. This bottom one is the one we begin to fix in the class.

GROUP-MOOD-BOARD

this is the first group moodboard we ended up in class. not completed.

Then,

Weather than one people design it and the other do research for the element for the moodboard, we started work together.

Gulay,Min-moodboard2

this one is the one I came up with for first group moodboard.

but the team member Gulay figured out that there’s some unrelated background picture (the spoon with mustard)

and missing information such as needs more typefaces.

so she combined her designs and add or subtract some information.

MIN-GULAY03-2

this one is the second one.

and a few more feedback and designs each other,

then we came up with this final moodboard.

[project 3] Research

A logotype seeks to express the name of a company or product in a memorable way.

For most of the 20 century, graphic designers focused mostly on print. Back then, the printing system often limited the designer to use one or two because multiple color designs were expensive to reproduce.

In the early 1990’s, new digital tools and processed made it easier to design and reproduce drop shadows, fine lines, transparency, and multiple colors. While a logo still needs to be readable, direct, and translatable across diverse media, it now occupies  visual world replete with color, dimensionality, detail, motion, and even sounds(animated).

 Application of Logo

Logo, nowadays is not just a sign or mark for a product. it needs to be considered many other usages. so when creating the logo, you should think about the scale because the logo should look same weather it scale down or scale up. here’s some example.

Research

1.WHAT DRAGON MEANING IN THIS BOOK?

Shag is born at the year of dragon. Shag’s tribe is believing this zodiac as most of the Mongolian tribes does.

Chinese(Asian) zodiac

Origin

Similar to the ten heavenly stems and twelve earthly branches, animals in Chinese zodiac were also created for counting years as the system that is now universally accepted based on the Christian calendar was as yet non-existent. The selection and order of the animals that influence people’s lives very much was originated in the Han Dynasty(202BC – 220AD) and based upon each animal’s character and living habits. The old time division was mostly related to number 12: one ji equals 12 years, one year has 12 months, one day has 12 time periods called shi chen. Ancient people observe that there are 12 full moons within one year. So, its origin is associated with astronomy. Each animal sign is usually related with an earthly branch, so the animal years were called zi rat, chou ox, yin tiger, mao rabbit, chen dragon, si snack, wu horse, wei sheep, shen monkey, you rooster, xu dog and hai pig.

-The meaning of the year of dragon:   The dragons enjoys a very high reputation in Chinese culture. It is the token of authority, dignity, honor, success, luck, and capacity. In ancient China, this creature was thought to speed across the sky with divine power. Emperors entitled themselves exclusively as ‘dragon’; their thrones were called ‘dragon thrones’, their clothes ‘dragon gowns’.

-Strengths

People under the sign of the dragon are lively, intellectual, energetic and excitable. They often can be leaders and try to go for perfection. When they meet with difficulties, they are not discouraged. They are magnanimous, romantic and sensitive about their reputation. They usually have great ambition and an ingenuous personality. They hate hypocrisy, gossip and slander. They are not afraid of difficulties but hate to be used or controlled by others.
